30 Thrones makes use of a simple idea: combining images from Game of Thrones and dialog from 30 Rock, to create something unexpectedly good.
This just further adds to the list of reasons I really need to watch Game of Thrones.

Pretty amusing, though in the case of the "demon monkey" scene, I think the original dialog (spoilers, be warned) is much funnier. Not that I can fault anyone for not being as witty as Tyrion Lannister.

I'm not often a fan of these mash-ups. This one works surprisingly well.

Twofer: Surely our massive conglomerate parent company could spring for a samovar of coffee.
Frank: Yeah, or like a big coffee dispenser!
Twofer: That’s what a samovar is.
This won teh Internets for me.

I'd be angry that this is pretty blatantly ripping off Arrested Westeros (if that was even the first to do it, and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't) but it's damn funny, so in fact I don't care at all!

My wife and a friend (with a few contributions from me) did this with quotes from Lost over the summer, with Live Together, Die a Throne (previously a MeFi Project).

The only thing funny about these is the dialog. The GoT visuals add absolutely nothing. I expected better.

Jenna's dialogue is pretty much perfect coming out of the mouths of either Cersei or Joffrey.
And Liz/Brienne ones work really well too.

Oh hey, Arrested Westeros did a whole round-up of these:
- Game of Thrones + Parks and Rec = Storm of Swansons
- Game of Thrones + Archer = A Song of ISIS and Fire
- Game of Thrones + Futurama = Westerama
- Game of Thrones + The Wire = A Song of Ice and Wire
- Game of Thrones + The Big Lebowski = Game of Lebowskis
- Game of Thrones + The Big Lebowski = Dude of Thrones
- Game of Thrones + Mean Girls = Mean Targaryens
I love 30 Rock! I love Game of Thrones!
Unfortunately, these are much less than the sum of their parts.

You could put 30 Rock dialogue on just about anything and have it be funny.
In fact, please do. Start with screencaps of the presidential debates.

Sometimes I wonder what future generations will think of some aspects of our culture that seem like they must be impenetrably obtuse if you're not immersed in the context. Mashup tumblrs are definitely something I wonder about.
On the plus side, we've already invented the phrase "what is this I don't even" so I know far future archeologists will have the words to express how they feel.

I watch neither 30 Rock nor Game of Thrones; without the context of the characters of either, this was just strange.

Yeah, pretty much. I haven't seen Game of Thrones, but I found this pretty funny. It feels like 30 Rock is doing most of the heavy lifting here, but I suppose I'm missing some context from the Thrones side of things.
