This is one of those videos I've seen a thousand times but keep finding new, hilarious things inside it that I hadn't noticed before. posted by Ghostride The Whip at 12:47 PM on October 26, 2012 [2 favorites]
There's a really funny one for Peggle Nights, but I can't remember what the title is to search for it. posted by codacorolla at 1:05 PM on October 26, 2012
What is it about these videos that turns me into a gurgling, chortling moron? If you search for any video game, ANY video game, you might get some vaguely interesting content. ADD "MLG" TO YOUR SEARCH AND IT BECOMES A MAGIC LAND OF SKRILLEX AND LENSFLARE.
This is the wonderful sort of thing that could cause Dawkins to despair at how his phrase has been turned from "idea equivalent of gene" to "garish internet fad feat. Skrillex". posted by Apocryphon at 1:24 PM on October 26, 2012 [1 favorite]
great yet another thing to make me love 2010s. now I cant act bored with new internet culture great now i have to laugh at this until i sneeze and disturb my coworkers great. posted by Potomac Avenue at 1:24 PM on October 26, 2012

I'm almost 40 years old but "420 SMOKE COAL EVERYDAY" is now being used as a catchphase by some of my online friends after I posted that Train Simulator video to Facebook a couple weeks ago. posted by mrbill at 1:35 PM on October 26, 2012 [7 favorites]
One of my favorite things about these videos is that they are so visually noisy that I barely even notice the advertisement overlays. posted by SharkParty at 1:45 PM on October 26, 2012
This is how the world ends: not with a bang, but a wub. posted by Wolfdog at 1:55 PM on October 26, 2012 [1 favorite]
While the rest was pretty hilarious, I still want to register how really uncomfortable I am with the awfully suspicious way the video seems to be laughing at the gays at the end in a 'hur hur this game is so gay its like Shepard/Cortez having gay dude sex!' kind of way rather than laughing with us in a 'LOL WTF Shepard is not a dude!' kind of way.
Also the weird Jewish stereotyping. posted by Blasdelb at 2:06 PM on October 26, 2012
It's interesting that you singled out probably the MOST subtle bit of homophobia in these videos! posted by SharkParty at 2:16 PM on October 26, 2012 [1 favorite]
That scene is always to be ridiculed for how horribly they rendered Cortez, so that it's less Shepard having sex with a man as he is with having sex with a dark crypto-racist-caricature shadow person who is almost invisible. Having terrible graphical glitches was one of the reasons that ME3 was castigated for.
The appearance of the Hasidic Jew is to congratulate the player for destroying the Iranian nuclear silos, a phrase which reappears in the second Moonbase Alpha video for some reason. I think his second line of dialogue is taken from the Merchant in Resident Evil 4.

So this is a genre now? My favorite: TRAIN SIMULATOR BITCH (NSFW: Language, Skrillex)
I can't stop breathing for all the laughter. "One hundred two hours played, I REGRET NOTHIN!" is pretty much the best game slogan ever. posted by Spatch at 2:38 PM on October 26, 2012 [1 favorite]

AHHHHIAHHHH I'LL BUY IT AT A HIGH PRICE, still though, 'straight' dudes mocking gay people as just being somehow degraded straight people who might be laughably shocked to wake up next to someone of the same sex is kind of a thing. posted by Blasdelb at 2:52 PM on October 26, 2012

It is, and there's an impossibly thin line between mocking MLG videos and having that void look back into you. posted by boo_radley at 3:02 PM on October 26, 2012 [2 favorites]

I really, really want to see one of these videos for XCOM. Points if the entire video is done exclusively with footage of the original X-COM and Xenonauts. posted by Apocryphon at 3:09 PM on October 26, 2012
