I can add a few more from Norwegian folklore: Huldra, who appears as a beautiful girl with a tail who lives in the woods Nøkken, a water spirit who plays on the violin and lures people to drown in small lakes Vardøger, the "spirit predecessors" that sometimes appear somewhere before the person they represent.

It is missing the Capra Barbana from the Italian Alps, a huge goat with iron teeth and a wooly beard. The woolly beard does not seem monstrous enough, but that is the way the rhyme goes: "La caora Barbana coi denti de fero e la barba de lana"
