Victoria's Secret is going prime-time.On Nov. 15, Victoria's Secret will be putting on a fashion show on ABC smack dab in the middle of prime time. According to the Wall Street Journal, "in a move that further blurs the line searating entertainment and advertising, the program's high-profile models also will make guest appearances on at least two of the network's shows during the week of the broadcast" -- "Spin City" will go backstage, and the models will play "Who Wants to be a Millionaire."

So, the question is: is this *really* a further blurring of the line between entertainment and advertising, or did that happen long ago?

Personally, this is completely unsurprising coming from a Disney corporation.

Actually, billder, I think it's more of a warning volley over the bow of Fox's "Temptation Island." Next up, UPN: "Victoria the Vamp Slayer" anyone?

Seriously, though. It's sad to think that the media is this thoroughly up for sale. Granted, broadcast television is the media form with the lowest morals, but you've got to assume Vicky's had to pay a huge amount of money to set this up. With the advertising industry in a depression, TV is going to get a lot more infomercially in the next few months. If Victoria's Secret is doing this now, imagine what we'll be seeing later -- "The Microsoft Practice," "The Ronald McDonald Show," "Everybody Loves Raytheon"...

While I normally am pro-media conspiracy this is one time where I won't complain about advertising/entertainment merger. Victoria's Secret on TV! Now that is synergy. If only we could get the models on Politically Incorrect with Bill! Toss in Britney Spears and the war on Oceania will be clear. Uh, I mean Afghanistan. Sorry, I am still getting over the irony of carpet bombing the afghans.

Any sort of machinations involved in getting more Victoria Secrets models on my tv is good machinations as far as I'm concerned.
