YouTube user Maximus Thor has a number of similar and similarly named videos. My favorite is this one.

There is some probably fake backstory on Maximus Thor. It is reddit, do not click if you don't want to be annoyed.

There is some probably fake backstory on Maximus Thor.

Ad Hominem, I've actually known this kid since he was about two and can vouch that:

A) His name is indeed Maximus Thor.

B) He probably required very little coaching to make these videos.

Not really sure how I could prove this, but hopefully a mefite's words carries a bit more weight than a redditor's.

Given the shelf is alphabetized, and the fact that just in the freeze frame before you press play I can read 'Sicko' and see the font for 'Spinal Tap', I'm going to deduce Temple of Doom.

I should note that his dad, the director, is Benjamin Barak. He is a standup dude and I worked on a number of the videos listed on that site with him.

Thanks for the confirmation. Maybe there is an exchange rate, 1 mefite's word = 10 redditors' words, as long as none of those redditors are novelty accounts with names like I_LIE_FOR_FUN.

He picks Raiders though I can't imagine why it's placed there on the shelf.

Now I want to start a sock puppet account called I_LIE_FOR_FUN, which only tells the truth about esoteric things that aren't easily googled.

See the thing is, it's clear there are three Indiana Jones movies next to each other there. They are plainly in the wrong place, as all the movies after also appear to start with "S". Also, at the highest resolution you can clearly read that the rightmost movie (farthest from the camera) is "Temple of Doom". The next closest is harder to read, but I'm pretty sure it says "Bonus Material". The title of the third is hidden by shadow, but comparing the thumbnail at the top of the spine to this image of the Adventures of Indiana Jones boxed set, I'm going to say it's actually Raiders of the Lost Ark. Deepening the mystery is the fact that there are four DVDs in that boxed set.

Maybe the movies are in autobiographical order.

BONUS MATERIAL. That's why I couldn't just figure out the one he picked via process of elimination (because the words on that 2nd one looked neither like "Raiders" nor "Last Crusade").

He picked Raiders, brain! You can stop scritch-scritch-scritch-ing at me now.

Thanks, y'all.

Yeah, having actually watched the video now, he doesn't even pull it from where I thought he would. The freeze is from earlier, as he's checking other cases, still looking. The one he actually yanks looks like it's in an ok spot for 'Raiders', but if there's really three of the movies all in a row there then I dunno what's going on.

These shorts are fantastic! Production, editing, and writing are superb, so good I keep suspecting the videos are part of a viral ad campaign requiring the work of a couple dozen people.

I'm suspending my suspicion of lure only because SomaSoda says so.

This white girl was vaguely worried about racism too -- that that's where the funny comes from. But I think it's more the dissonance than anything else. Please somebody tell me if I should feel more guilty for enjoying this.

I don't feel guilty for enjoying this. It's the dichotomy that does it. Swap out the blond haired caucasian boy with someone else and substitute the voice with any overtly macho dialogue and cultural dialect, and it's going to still be funny.
