To see someone affirm who they have secretly always been against such strong cultural opposition and then not survive the process is a particularly awful kind of heartbreak. Is it because I'm inculcated by endless sappy movies to expect the happy ending, or does reality actually tend to dish out happiness to those who transcend their problems and this one was just a fluke?

Some children are born transgender. Some families have good health coverage, including mental health. These two things sometimes intersect. Let's make sure they intersect more.

Otherwise, I guess, good on the parents? But, with any luck, this should gradually become unremarkable and kind of banal.
