My favourite one is a shiba gif (this one: http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/2534/21d672e9a0e508550529648.gif) with 'so friend' and other things floating on it, but it's not there.

I'm not sure about that. All of the shiba-ken I've ever seen have been very sedate, calm little dogs (provided they are not left chained up outside).

I would guess Sweet Jeff & Hella Bro but is there an established point in Internet history where it becomes its own thing? Is there a name for this meme? Is it supplanting or supplementing the top-bottom-bracket-Impact-text/advice animal image macro? WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE INTERNET!!??

I have a shiba! She's a great apartment dog, small and efficient. I wouldn't call her sassier than a Pomeranian, but she's not that sedate/calm either. Kind of neurotic. She's deathly afraid of manhole covers and certain, randomly-assigned cats.
