Sir Tim Berners-Lee apologized for double slashes in URLs

I missed Tim Berners-Lee's 2009 apology for including // in http://. He noted that the double slashes were "unnecessary," "seemed like a good idea at the time" and had been "so much hassle." By the way, Sir Berners-Lee was knighted in 2004.
