Some twins share

Some twins share thoughts, dreams, clothes, but these two have shared sooo much more. Quite possibly the most bizarre thing I have seen in a while.

That's, er, fuckin' weird yo.

So does the one brother only have one arm? Sounds like a bum rap to me, even if he did get a slightly elongated finger. Especially if he works at "the sixth largest producer of adult entertainment software in North America". I mean, how can he type? Or perhaps it's not typing he does there... Which begs some questions.

Methinks that the questions that are begged are best left for somewhere besides MetaFilter. MetaTalk, for instance.

Old and fake. View the source, at the bottom of the page. They have a link:

Yes, this was an April Fools prank!
You're not the only person that didn't get it.
Check out some of the messages I got!

Don't feel bad, dancu. This might be one of the better April Fool's pranks I've seen. Especially for anyone even passingly familiar with the crazies at BME. Of course, to my mind ... nothing will ever top the kremvax hoax of '84.

As far as April Fool's Day articles go, nothing beats Discovery Magazine's Bigon.

Did I say Discovery? I meant Discover.
I mis-typed it because i'm not used to using my twin brother's transplanted finger... yet.

About three paragraphs into it I was going, "this must be a fake." It almost had me convinced though. Very good writing, as hoaxes go. Fake or no, I could feel my face muscles tightening up in disbelief. Nicely done prank. Old maybe but first I'd seen it. Thanks for the ..uhm, cringe.

Well, I guess the world's not that screwed up, but I can attest it's still pretty screwed up.

Old and fake.

Thank the sweet lord Jesus.

Don't exhale in relief just yet. Take a look at the other, very real interviews from the same website, featuring trepanning, amputating and meatus-splitting dudes and you'll find that the extra-arm thing is(can't resist)only a logical extension.

What a nerd I am, I knew it was fake because that isn't a Ferrari Dino. It is likely is a kit car with a VW powertrain.

I just have to share: IGN's review of Notepad is one of my favorites; its an honest review, which makes it so amusing...

"We've got some genital work planned that's pretty exciting..." Arrggghhh...!

Hmmm, anybody who stopped and thought "How does the additional appendage get its blood supply?" would have been on the road to discovery.

More interesting is why are we so ready to believe the bizarre? Or is the correct question, why are we so ready to believe what we want to believe?

Option1: great question. I believed it absolutely until I read the comments. Perhaps it's a snobbish, holier-than-thou, "some people!" sort of thing which makes us feel normal and good and, relatively speaking, makes our own personal perversions seem mild and acceptable. A conformity-fest. You know: "I may be crazy, but not that crazy...I may have pierced my nipples, cut off my pinky and grown a yard-long foreskin but, hey, at least I didn't transplant my brother's arm..."

I can only answer for myself, but I wanted to believe it was true because I think the bizarre is COOL, and that was the most bizarre thing I'd seen in a LONG time. Before I'd even looked at the pictures for more than a couple seconds or read any of the text I jumped up to show my room mates. Perhaps its because we've seen so much bizarre and graphic stuff that we want to believe in this sort of thing. We crave novelty, something to top the last thing we saw.
