A rather interesting articleon how scientists how found that people with the same surname usually share some common DNA. This could soon be used to track down the original founder of your last name.

I actually know exactly where my surname came from, and it's a strange story. (I put it in my Bio section on my web page -- I'm descended from a smartass.)
