Actor and writer James Urbaniak (Venture Brothers, American Splendor) has a wry, occasionally upsetting "fictional podcast" with every episode written by a new author. Getting On With James Urbaniak.

I love this.

Also I want to write one.

I believe this was just mentioned on NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast hosted by MeFi's Own Linda Holmes.

I really want to put words in his mouth.

I've loved him since Henry Fool. He's like a well-adjusted David Lynch character.

Also: He's 49!? /places James Urbaniak next to Helen Mirren in "Celebs Who Keep it Tight" file

Um, yes? How old did you think Rusty Venture was?

I follow him on Twitter too. The other day he mentioned that he was going to Tile Bar in the East Village. One of the few times I've missed living in NYC.

Any word on if we'll get some more Venture Bros. before 2015?

New season is supposed to premiere around Feb or March, as I recall. And you saw the Halloween Special that dropped back around Halloween, right? Because it was MAGICAL.

Yeah, that Halloween episode was brilliant. I didn't realize it's starting back up again so soon. ME HAPPY.

I love this podcast. Urbaniak's voice is great for the weirdness of the writing, with all this rich lower tones that he can crank up to higher registers. Episode 2 was plain scary.

I saw him at a local swimming pool. He wore a GCI shirt. I tweeted about it, and he replied with his favorite celebrity sighting at the same pool. Made. My. Day.

Indeed, this was Glen's entry in our weekly What's Making Me Happy This Week.

Oh, MAN.

I recommend listening to the first episode sitting in the dark in an otherwise empty house.

I used to go to this theater thing, 'Underground Soaps" by the 'Cucaracha Company'. Ostensibly there was a story-line, but it was as often a bunch of skits strung loosely together, acted by a wide swath of actors.
Urbaniak's most frequent contribution was to recite Becket (at least I always assumed it was Becket), quite fast, quite monotone and looking as though being on stage were torture. It was fantastic.

Lucky me, I had a bout of 3AM insomnia last night. This was perfect for it. Thanks!
