plus, you know, she reminds her followers when there's a new Nimona page posted, so that's great too. posted by komara at 10:03 AM on December 27, 2012

Second'ing following Noelle Stevenson's twitter feed. She draws some absolutely wonderful bite-sized bits about geek movies and her daily life. See: Badass Scooby Gang. posted by introp at 10:35 AM on December 27, 2012
This is great! I can never keep up with plot-based webcomics though, for some reason... I enjoy chewing through the archives but then once I get to the present and have to wait for installments to dribble out day by day, I just lose interest. Sometimes I will keep it up for a while if the comic updates daily, but even so unless it packs a lot of laughs I have a hard time with it.
I'm gonna give this a try though because it's pretty awesome. posted by Scientist at 10:38 AM on December 27, 2012 [1 favorite]

This is okay, but not *stellar*. Ballister Blackheart seems like kind of a schmuck. In the first four or so chapters they don't do a lot to establish his villain credentials. posted by JHarris at 12:41 PM on December 27, 2012
Hey, thanks for this. very fun and a welcome addition posted by edgeways at 12:48 PM on December 27, 2012
This is good. I think Ballister Blackheart is a fabulous. There is a lot of subtly in the framing of his character.
Visually, it's very Beaton-esque, in a good way. This is, I guess, the hip way to draw cartoons? If so, huzzah. And just love Nimona's body-shape. It's so normal. And the way she sits and jumps and squirms and her angry bloody-jawed canine form... So delightful. posted by BrashTech at 2:34 PM on December 27, 2012 [1 favorite]

Gingerhaze's Tumblr is a wonderful "follow" - lots of terrific nerdy sketches in addition to Nimona comics. She is a great artist. I'm really excited for the Nimona graphic novel! posted by sc114 at 5:22 PM on December 27, 2012

He and Goldenlion seem to be working together to undermine the police state - he's not an actual villain, tho he does some ethically questionable things.
This will lead to an interesting conflict once Nimona, who is a bloodthirsty villain, realizes her idol has been using her for his good-guy schemes and has her close by his side to keep a powerful threat to the kingdom under control... Nimona herself.
At least that's the way I've been reading it. There is a stark difference between Blackheart and Nimona, who actually relishes using her powers to kill, and seeks more power and more opportunities to wield it. She's written as a charming manic pixie girl, but she's bad news to the core; a very interesting character. posted by Slap*Happy at 10:35 AM on December 28, 2012 [1 favorite]
