Wesley Crusher returns!Yes, Star Trek fans, Wesley Crusher will return for the (supposedly) last of the series, Star Trek X. Right on, we get to find out how much intergalactic tail Mr. C has been getting while swooping around the universe.

It's about time -- it so sucks that his writers made out such a horrible characterization, and that the writer's strike forced them to use those plots....

Wil is a good guy, and this will help his career so much.

Actualy, according to the blog entry, this will be the last film involving the TNG characters, not the last startrack film ever. I don't know what would follow, I mean DS9 was cool and all, but it didn't nearly have the following of TNG, and Voyager? GOD NO.

Anyway, now that I've apperantly outed myself as a pathetic geek...

i don't care, really, if DS9 has a movie made for it. what i would like to see are more movies in which avery brooks is a major actor. he was really good; it looks as though his last major acting role was in American History X.

Coolness! I've been reading Wil's homepage alot lately. Though I'm not entirely ready to bestow "geek" status on him yet (Hey, he did razz Reg Barclay by calling him "broccoli", right? right??), but I gotta admit -- for all the online crap he has endured over the years, he has emerged with a remarkable wit and a level-headness that makes me wanna grab a couple oversized "tribbles" for pom-poms and lead a cheer for his continued good fortune.

I so so so loved TNG -- we watched it constantly in college, and my roommate even made up an interpretive dance (borrowing heavily from the illuminations of William Blake) to the theme song -- and this news makes me happy on what's been a pretty craptacular day.

Yeah, I'm a geek. I love me some TNG. The more movies they want to put out, the merrier it makes me. Hooray!

Good for you, Wil. And as someone pointed out on his site, it's an even-numbered ST, which means it has hope. For those uninformed, look at the numbers. The good movies were 2, 6, 4 while 1, 3, and especially Shatner-directed 5 were garbage.

What would a Voyager movie be about? Hanging out in San Francisco now that we're all home? I'd like to see a new TV series, a reprise of the Odd Couple, starring Tuvak and Neelix as wacky roommates in 2?th century San Francisco.

This will not be good news for the multitudes of Wesley-haters out there who consider him to be the JarJar Binks of ST:TNG...not quite as annoying as that obnoxious kid with the talking dolphin from Seaquest, but damn close.

If he's going to be in the next film, then I hope that they goof on that image a bit.

If I remember correctly, didn't Wesley ditch Star Fleet and go out on his own as he left the show? Wouldn't that make it hard for him to be a captain now? LOL. You mean Jonathan Brandis? But he not only co-starred with Chuck Norris, he also played a cross dressing teen in a Rodney Dangerfield movie. That's gotta be worth something.

Because a series filled with soundless explosions and nothing but subtitles would be horribly, horribly boring. This is called "science fiction" for a reason, primate. Of course, every other show on television adheres strictly to scientific fact, right?

Perhaps Star Trek X will involve the final showdown between time-bending Wesley and seemingly-omnipotent Q.

(And what is it with the letter X this year? Windows XP, Athlon XP, Jason X, etc., etc.)

No it wouldn't, its really the plot and characters that matter not the effects. Star Trek made a decision to be the way it is, mainly because its easier to swallow TV and adds to the mindless fun factor. There's really nothing wrong with that, if you want a harder brand of sci-fi go to your local bookstore. Movies and TV need every viewer they can get to stay afloat, books are a bit more forgiving.

I read Wes's weblog yesterday and it looks like he only got an offer and is still in negotiations. His character is far from being in the final cut. I wouldn't be surprised if they wrote him in just like his old role in TNG.

EarthShock - Matthew Waterhouse's (Adric) last episode of Doctor Who - totally caught me off guard. (Details, and spoilers, here)

Normally I would watch Doctor Who and then bounce around the rest of the day is a geeky, British Sci Fi bliss, but when Earthshock ended, I was totally stunned. I didn't think a TV show would end that way. Talk about betrayed by the Telly!

I miss the Doctor.
