These are sweet! I wish I could find the pic of the Middleman and Dub-Dub that I saw in a slideshow of SDCC pics from this past year. They looked AMAZING.

Looooove Han Solo and Superman, but I also really liked the costume change for Zatanna. (Even given that Zatanna has a cheesy costume. But she's a stage magician.)

The most gorgeous cosplayer I ever saw was an African-American guy cosplaying Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist. Oh sweet Lord, that man was handsome. Those perfect Scar shoulders. I followed him speechless around half the con center before I worked up the nerve to ask for a (now lost, woe) picture.

Sadly, I've rarely seen good Scar cosplays otherwise. With Scar born in a fantasy-counterpart-Middle Eastern culture, your typical well-meaning-but-misguided white guy cosplayer ranges from "bad self-tanner" to "actual brownface/blackface." Guys, just…paint the face scar and tattoos and call it a day, or cosplay someone else, okay?

I have seen excellent multiracial cosplayers of Mugen from Samurai Champloo, and I officially encourage this in the name of badassery and hotness. Also, watching people swagger around wearing geta is hilarious/impressive.

That's because it is Idris Elba - it's a fairly good Photoshop job.

I love Cosplaying While Black, but it does tend to go a bit overboard on the girls in Lolita dresses. But then you get near perfect Eartha Kitt Catwoman poses and everything is right with the world.

The Hatsune Miku in the banner is really nice, and I gasped with delight at a Rozen Maiden cosplayer. Very nicely done here.

This batgirl is my favorite, but this korra is pretty awesome, too.

There's a lot of Korra cosplayers of varying skin tones/races out there, actually, and it makes me so goddamn happy to see it. It grosses me out when people get hung up on skin tone as dictating who someone can or can't cosplay (almost always with nonwhites being told they'd be unrecognizable as white characters). I mean, don't pull out the blackface or anything, but a good cosplay will still be recognizable with a different skin tone.

In my defense I was looking at what I thought was a fantastically detailed costume and didn't really take in the fact that it's obviously a modified version of this official promotional photo of Han Solo. I was thinking, "Man, that belt is perfect." Sigh. I feel so bad.
