Does Russell Brand ever wash his hair?

I started a little ways in (around the OM NOM NOM bit) and it took me a little bit to figure out what was going on. That actually turned out to be really cool- It was a nice surprise to see Brand being such a decent guy, to the extent his persona allows.

Brand being such a decent guy

It's fascinating to watch different people during their interviews with Marlena. Some are relaxed, some have a glazed smile, others seem very uncomfortable (one of the interviewees turns sideways and hardly looks at her at all). Russell is the only one interviewed that seems to totally embrace the situation and Marlena as a person. So, yes, a decent guy, in this situation :)

Also, definitely with reading Marlena's comments under the youtube movies (yes, I just suggested reading youtube movie comments!). She seems like an incredible human.

Russell Brand is smart as a whip, kind to a fault, and absolutely necessary, and I will fight anyone that claims otherwise.

Oh dear, I'd rather thought my fisticuffs days were behind me. I may have to resort to sneaking in a set of brass knuckles.

I've got your back, Decani.

Also, in what universe does 'kind to a fault' also cover refusing to start work until the make-up girl shows you her tits?

Russell Brand is a canny media whore (and I say that in the nicest possible way and in no way judgmentally) who is incapable of not trying to be charming, even when his charm is utterly not working, and the best thing about him is that glint of desperation that comes into his eyes when he realizes that he has committed to a charm offensive and the other person is Not Having It, but he just cannot stop himself.

I really thought the first season of Brand X With Russell Brand was a fascinating experiment. Watching the show evolve in its format, watching Brand learn the skills required to carry off what is basically a late night interview/comedy show, watching the development of segments which play into Brand's strengths and the discarding of those which do not....

Really, it was fascinating like how the first 100 shows of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon were also fascinating.

I'm eager for season 2 to start. They finally realized at the end of the first season that a half-hour was the wrong length for the show, so they did a final few episodes in an hour-long format, which really gave Brand the chance to breathe and for the show not to feel rushed and cramped. They also realized that there are some basic things in the format which seem to be necessary, like the desk for the host and the couch for the guests (even if Brand doesn't use them like one would typically expect).

I expect that if the show is given a chance, Brand's skills will continue to mature and he will end up being one of the better hosts of such on television.

Maybe that's overstating it a little, but I do strongly agree that he is extremely underrated. OK, sure, he's brash and talks loud and maybe doesn't wash his hair as much as he should, but so what. I think he's kind of passed Ricky Gervais (another great Brit) in the opposite direction on the likeability road: a lot of people loved Gervais until he became a little too pleased with himself, and people will start to love Brand, I think, once they get to know him.

I like Gervais. He's a genuine comedic talent, but there's a detail about his life that tells me what kind of guy he probably is - he's had the same girlfriend for 30 years.

Nothing Brand does will ever surpass his work on Big Brother's Big Mouth. Since that, it's been downhill all the way.
