Putin taking questions on from American call ins and emails on NPR.It's 5:05pm on the west coast and Putin is on his way from Ground Zero to the New York studios of NPR. Switch on your local NPR station; Putin is supposedly very good at answering candid questions. I can only imagine Bush entertaining call in questions in Russia (or the US for that matter). Comments after the interview?

hmmm, that first sentence is pretty mushy, so much for me making fun of Bush.

Looks like he can't find the studio. Hopefully Russia's intelligence in Afghanistan is better.

I would love to have someone who understands Russian listen to this. The translator sounds very ... confident. Almost to the point of being - not rehearsed, really, but very prepared. This could just be due to the fact that he's working with his 'regular' translator, but its kinda weird.

I can only imagine Bush entertaining call in questions in Russia (or the US for that matter).

While they were waiting for Putin to arrive they discussed at length the call-in show that Clinton did in Russia while he was President. I bet that was fascinating. Shame its not available anywhere in the US.

I can't wait until they post a transcript of this interview, though....

It was refreshing to hear a lucid elected leader field questions in a way that exhibited a real knowledge of the issues of the day. Remember when President Clinton would do that? Puppetry gets soooo boring.

Europe here, and we're in between the middle, so it's nice to see two superpowers, and culturally so different countries form a bridge between each other.

It were all very diplomatic answers from mr Putin (-mr Switzerland :)), but I gotta say I felt very comfortable with it.

More; it would have been an unrelated question, I would have liked to know if Russia, under todays circumstances would have taken another approach with the rescuing of the Koersk.
