I wonder if this is just a tall-tale that some journalist bought hook, line, and sinker. I can't imagine spending the last of your money not on food but on a crazy scheme to blow up a shed.

Quick AOL open up that Afghani information market! Yeah. Maybe a special Afghani version with a big icon to eBay. A peice of bread? Gahh. Collectors over here would. . .

Well you get the point.

I can hear it now. Sometime after Saturday Night Live and during infomercial central before the early news, "Now you can own this keepsake of the Great War of the 21st Century. Handsomely mounted on 100% genuine Bamiyan limestone shards. . ."

Actually, stories like this were told about the Soviet-Afghan war -- there was a Russian saying something like "They make us shoot at them, and then sell our bullets back to us."

Huh. Now PETA will have to protest the war.

So... the scrap metal was worth the price of a piece of bread...

Why didn't he just eat the dog?

(I’m deeply skeptical...)
