The controls are frustratingly laggy, meaning I lose at Snake mostly from the system not recognizing my keypresses. Which, given the nature of the game, wouldn't be so bad, except it makes for very ordinary kinds of images, straight, canvas-spanning lines with a tail sticking out of them. posted by JHarris at 2:03 PM on February 4
It's a fun idea for a game and amusing to play, but people make far more impressive art by playing minecraft. posted by justsomebodythatyouusedtoknow at 2:08 PM on February 4
The turgid compliments and a short quote on page 47 of an arts magazine no one reads and then it was game over ... is a depressing statement on art (though it confirms my limited view of the art world). posted by stbalbach at 2:45 PM on February 4 [1 favorite]
I used the minimalist painter to do a series I called "Offside Pong". The curator loved them. posted by P.o.B. at 7:13 PM on February 4
One sculpture I deliberately formed as many floating cubes as was possible, taking the longest of any I had done. On my next sculpture, the down button got jammed and blocks piled to the top in half a second. The curator loved the latter, ignored the former.
At the gallery, one of the patrons said my sculptures would be great in his garden.
My coworker was playing the scupture one and couldn't figure out how to get to the next level: "It is physically impossible for me to lose at tetris!".
Also, such a nice statement as game. posted by jonbro at 11:51 PM on February 4
