I'd like one of those backpack rigs to wear at Mardi Gras. Also: This is very cool.

Welp, I can cross that off my 'bucket list' now.

The Trekker is operated by an Android device and consists of 15 lenses angled in a different direction so the images can be stitched together into 360-degree panoramic views. As the operator walks, photos are taken roughly every 2.5 seconds.

But how much does it weigh?

AH! It's under 40 pounds, runs on two lithium batteries for a whole day, and runs on Android.

Bummed no Kaibob trail. Figured they'd do Bright Angel.

Bummed no Kaibob trail.

There's some Kaibab imagery.

I looked at this for about 5 minutes before the overwhelming urge to get out of this chair & go outside came over me, then I was knocked back down by the fact that I just can't afford to drive out there RIGHT NOW. I want to see Havasu falls before I die, please.

Touring the world via Google maps street view is simultaneously wonderful & utterly depressing, somehow.

I think it's just me, because no else seems to complain -- but I find the street view controls for stuff like this so counterintuitive and confusing that I never end up exploring much. One time you click and it wooshes forward; another time you click what seems like the same place and now your mouse is controlling the pan; click again and it zooms way on some stupid detail you never wanted to look at; click on the map thing and drag the guy elsewhere and the view doesn't change; move the guy around and he disappears from the map. Either I'm just horrible at street view or it's a simply dreadful UI -- or maybe a bit of both.

Whatever the case, street view is one of those things that makes me feel like I'm getting old and just can't figure it out anymore (see also: keeping my smartphone contacts in sync with gmail, google+, facebook, etc).

It is sort of creepy how the guy in the blue polo is always trailing behind then he's gone then he's back etc etc.
At the mid-way point on the Black Bridge, looking back towards tunnel, you can see the head gear w/cameras so maybe they had a technical issue.
