Pity the powdered doughnut.

Pity the powdered doughnut. Always the last one left in the box and now tainted forever by terrorism. Shed a tear for its demise then cheer up by reading this slightly skewed history of the hole-y pastry. (via Scrubbles)

The key to understanding powered doughnuts is knowing that the white powder, while it may not be anthrax, is not all powered sugar, either. There's filler. And it does not digest well.

And how silly do I feel that all this time I've been reading your nick as "Hot Doughnut Snow."

Blimey, I'd have to concur on "Hot Doughnut Snow." I thought it was surrealist.

I was actually suprised to hear how poorly powdered donughts sell... Are not powdered doughnut holes the only kind of doughnut holes worth eating? They were one of my favorite snacks as a child... They went really well with a Pepsi.

M'kay, it does make me sick to think of eating that now. But for pure sugar buzz, I'm not sure how that can be beat.

Forget donuts (or doughnuts), if only churros would make their way over here (best picture I could find). Those who have had them with hot chocolate at 4:00 am in the morning in Madrid know what I'm talking about.

Mo Nickels: The key to understanding powered doughnuts...

Hmmm..."powered" donuts? Are we talking solar energy here, or some sort of cold-fusion pastry?

BTW, tried my first-ever Krispy-Kreme last week -- first few bites were OK, but it slowly dawned on me, as I finished the third donut, that I was in the presence of Greatness. The taste and subtlety take a minute or two to kick in, it seems. Looking forward to my next batch.

Reason right there to choose Krispy Kreme. Damn illiterates.

I always thought it was "Hot Doughnuts Now," but "Hot Doughnut Snow" is BRILLIANT, much better. Change your name, dude.

I hadn't tried doughnuts before going to the US. I was fresh, impartial, uncorrupted by marketing or word of mouth.

Krispy Kremes are better. I had my first in Pigeon Forge. There shops are all so shiny and metallic and clean. And their doughnuts are just better tasting, I think.
