Money4Opinions claims to be a service that connects members to paid-for-taking surveys. It's costs $20 to become a member, and they advertise in all sorts of "tiny classified ads." David Gagne thought it smelled fishy, and found out it was a scam.

I thought it smelled like tuna, too. If only there was a way to funnel money into my little computer....::sigh::

One of my friends asked me to look into them about a month ago. I did some digging and determined the same thing.

I found it cute that the guy's mailing address is a PO box at a Mailboxes, Etc. which also has boxes of many adult entertainment businesses. Is Marina del Rey, CA some sort of porn hot-spot?

I wouldn't put to much faith into a website that showed a graphic image of piles of money on their page...

Here's a simple rule: any time that anyone promises to give you money later if you give them money now, it's a scam.

I think my mom is in on some kind of survey scam. Actually, she's done a lot of these paid survey type things and I'm not sure why. She had yogurt in a plastic tube long before it hit the stores (in the mid-90s I think), she's been sworn to secrecy over new-and-amazing washing machine technologies, and she even got to bring her favorite bra to one such meeting, only to be turned away ($30 cash in hand anyway) because the focus group was too full. I know you didn't want to hear this, but I swear I'm not making it up.

Anyway, maybe she could teach us the tricks of the trade for, say, $14.95 or something...

Tasteless?
Well.
Gee.
That's rather harsh, don't you think?
