A long time ago, we used to be friends... and now we're making a movie!

Rob Thomas, creator of the late, beloved TV Series, Veronica Mars launched Kickstarter Campaign today to raise funds to produce a Veronica Mars movie.

Cancelled by the CW in 2007, Veronica Mars had a small, but loyal fan following. Attempts to save the show failed, despite fans sending more than 10,000 Mars Bars to the headquarters of the CW. Talk of a movie has persisted since its cancellation, but had not seen fruition until recent weeks, when the former cast got together to shoot a video for the Kickstarter Project (video available in the Kickstarter link), including Veronica Mars herself, Kristen Bell (previously)

Veronica Mars featured a number of cast members that went on to other popular projects, such as Party Down's Ryan Hansen and Ken Marino, Big Love and Napoleon Dynamite's Tina Majarino, New Girl's Max Greenfield and Flashpoint's Enrico Colantoni.

The project will go forward if they receive $2 million.

This post was deleted for the following reason: I know a lot of folks are stoked about the idea but we've got a firm no-active-fundraisers rule for posts to the front page. -- cortex
