Okay, I swapped out the mobile the link out for the generic one (mobile users should get redirected properly regardless), DOOM averted. Thanks Smart Dalek.

Used to be that every app expanded until it could read/send mail. Seems like the true mark of app or platform maturity these days is the ability to run Doom.

now, dagnabbit, where's my belt-onion?

Eh, my reddit-fu is weak. Make up your own ending.

I saw some Doom 3 in there, specifically the final battle against the Cyberdemon... against the substantially less impressive Doom 1/2 Cyberdemon.

Hands up, everyone else disappointed this was not actually DOOM in DOOM (in Doom). unless I missed a cameo

Listen I don't know how many times I have to say it we don't go to Ravenholm.

That's been happening for a while -- it's one of the standard proofs of hacking Linux into random devices. I remember a Slashdot post from a dozen-ish years ago about somebody running Doom on their digital camera.

I think I belong to their de(i)mographic. Might pick up Garry's Mod for this.

I was hovering around "this is pretty neat" but I completely lost it when the player opened the door.

Yeah, to those who just watched the first minute, this pony actually knows several tricks. I was kind of "meh, you put Doom weapon sprites in HL2" but then the player opened the door, and then half-way through it really got peanut butter all over my chocolate.

What I really want to know is if they were able to accurately replicate the BFG damage calculations in the HL2 engine (c.f. the BFG FAQ for exhaustive analysis).

I'm using the newest version of Firefox and the video keeps saying I don't have HTML5 supported. If I go to the guy's youtube channel I can watch it but no other video is set like that.

I see this is how we're all taking the fact that none of us can log on to SimCity.

Oh hell yeah, in both directions.

Tangentially, man how I wish id software would go back to making games that are just plain cheesy and fast and fun and less ponderous and lumbering. I still fire up Doom and (Darkplaces for the win) Quake I custom levels and localhost deathmatch Quake III against bots to relax a few times a week, all in updated, modernized engines.

Also, where is HL3, Gabe? WHERE?

Don't listen to him, Gabe. Take all the time you need to get it right.

Linkies for DOOM?

There are a lot of sourceports. I'm at work, but I think the one I use these days is ZDoom.
