Well this guy just became my new fashion icon. I sorta feel like one of the chief perks of growing old is that the rules of style relax for you, and it's much easier to pull off looking like whatever the hell you want for the day.

I wanted to be the guy who goes: "So, what's so special about a fashion tumbler", but I can't.

I mean, I can: how can any one man own so many outfits?

But I won't. It is delightful.

This proves beyond a doubt that style is about a lot more than age or body shape. It's about attitude and class and putting things together that rock. All apply to this guy, plus tax.

Thanks for this! The world needs to see Ali.

I think Ali has 18 children because his innate sexiness, even in his 70s(?), has the power to impregnate through nothing more than eye contact.

I was expecting Ali MacGraw.

This is much better.

That is one sharp fellow.

He dresses up for apple picking, even!

The most amazing thing about this is that Ali never, ever, changes his expression. Even on the wallet picture from way back when.

Also, how many people can say that they were a doctor and now they are a tailor?

I've been trying to finds the time to create a single-use Tumblr devoted to one man's outfits, but haven't gotten to it yet. If you have the time, please immortalize Detective James Martinez, Chief of Fashion Police.

Totally awesome style. I like how the blogger is loving to Ali, gets to know him and communicate him to us. I wish we knew more. A Turk living in Berlin for 44 years, working as a doctor and now a tailor. Man must have some stories. Also he seems so content, what's his life like?

Except.. why don't his clothes fit better? He works as a tailor, he cares about how his clothes look, and yet he's poochy around the tummy. And not just in the difficult pinstripes. I'm not trying to be mean; I've got somewhat the same body shape problem and am always struggling to find stuff with style and that fits. So I'm discouraged that this man with amazing taste and the skills to make clothes fit doesn't have stuff that sits right.

Excellent post.

I wonder how much, if at all, knowing he will have his picture taken has affected his day-to-day dress.

My new hero.

Also, how many people can say that they were a doctor and now they are a tailor?

One of my Vets used to be a lawyer, he was moving on to work for the GBI and was interested in the Secret Service. Or else he was a spectacular con man. Either way, I salute him.

At first, the way he presents himself at the camera, with that little lean forward and to the left, was a little bit strange. But after a few pictures, it becomes kind of an interesting bit of personality.

Oh no, this is exactly my policy on fedoras. A fedora is a fine hat, but a man must live up to it. Ali certainly does.

Adorable. But I have a hard time believing that he's not being dressed up by someone else. Some of the outfits just don't look natural on him. Or maybe it's because I wear the same pair of jeans nearly every day and have no idea what style looks like.
