BSA May Allow Gay Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America, under increasing public and internal pressure (previously) to allow both openly gay Scouts and adult leaders to participate in Scouting, have proposed lifting half of that ban, allowing gay youth without addressing. The BSA will put the matter before the 1,400 voting members of the National Council next month.

The BSA has long held that homosexuality is fundamentally incompatible with Scouting, saying "Boy Scouts of America will not allow the attacks to sway it from its mission: to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law."

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, I know this is a long-running thing that is near and dear for a people for a variety of reasons, but it'd probably make more sense to wait until that vote has actually happened, especially people will probably want to talk about it either way at that point. -- cortex

Looks like some of the above-the-fold text is missing: "without addressing the ban on gay adult leaders" (or the like)
