Jerry Falwell being defended by ACLU.(via FARK) Now I've heard everything. Now, I like Falwell about as much as the rest of you, but he may have a case. To give the ACLU their due, they always stand by their principles regardless of whose rights are being violated and whose political sensibilitie it might offend. I hope however, this will keep ol' Jerry from villifying the group in his sermons from here on out.

This isn't any different than when the ACLU supported the Aryan Nation who are just as concerned about civil liberties as Jerry or Jerry Jr. are.

Will Falwell stop vilifying the ACLU? Of course he won't- Falwell's a moron. He was on PI last night, and continued being a moron. Frankly, I don't see any change in this prognosis....

And what's the deal with the AP copy?

Falwell is a longtime critic of the ACLU. Two days after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, he said on Pat Robertson's "The 700 Club" show that God allowed the attack because of the work of abortion rights supporters, feminists and civil liberties groups, specifically the ACLU.

"Chides" the ACLU? Yah sure, and bin Laden "firmly scolded" the US back a couple of months ago....

Jerry Falwell continues to find new ways to make me sick. To have said what he did after Sept. 11 and then to accept the ACLU's help, he's told me that he either a) is a big fat hypocrite, or b) he wants more planes to fly into more buildings.

Cheeeeee-yarming. Just charming.

The AP, for all its ubiquity and thoroughness, is the wire-service champion of timid writing. They may be good reporters, but a lot of the AP's writers can suck the life right out of the most interesting stories.
