Watch controversial rapper RiFF RAFF on today's One Life to Live!

Whatever your feelings about RiFF RAFF's style, his appearance on One Life to Live was the kind of surreality that just hits the spot.

A little backstory. Riff Raff was portrayed by James Franco in the recent Harmony Korine movie Spring Breakers. He appeared on One Life To Live as art dealer/multi millionaire Jamie Franco. He also recently "called out " Franco on YouTube.

I don't remember OLTL having this much T&A when I was a kid.

However, good on Jody Highroller, he puts on a hell of a show (saw him a month back), and his Art Ballin is high Internet art.

Die Antwoord:Techno-Rap::RiFF RaFF:Houston Hip Hop

He's an elaborate self-promotion machine, mocking all of the trappings of hip hop culture, and never, ever, ever, ever, ever breaking character.

On preview: Ad Hominem gets it right

I'm sorry; when did we start saying "shit" on daytime TV? Or did I hear it wrong?

If it's on Hulu, it's technically anytime TV.

But I do wonder if they're actively trying to alienate their viewer base; My mom (who I should note is a moderately hip 58-year-old who isn't offended by language/sex per se) has been watching the show for as long as it's been on, and is really displeased with the weird change of tone.

I'll have to ask her what she thought of Riff Raff this week.

I think the character's last name was "Franko". That perhaps puts a slight bit of distance between the fictional character and the real person being satirized.

No you didn't hear it wrong. The word "fuck" has been used also (on AMC). In addition there's been close to full-frontal male nudity. Probably the reason they're getting away with it is because OLTL and AMC are no longer broadcast network TV shows. They are produced for online distribution only, where apparently much looser standards apply.

But I do wonder if they're actively trying to alienate their viewer base

The viewer base is no longer predominantly made up of easily titillated (or scandalized) housewives. On every soap forum I've read the majority are okay with the saltier language since so far the characters are not going overboard with it. The occasional use of profanity seems more realistic than all the silly verbal gymnastics done on regular network soaps to pretend like the characters are cursing.

He took some inspiration from Riff Raff but his performance was largely based on Dangeruss.

So he claims!

Yep, you are right.My mistake.

Totally possible. I only know what Riff Raff said, and he isn't exactly straightforward. Thanks for the heads up in that.

Riff Raff is also the absolute best at Vine, and any list of his highlights missing Time is missing 'Time'.

HULU! We meet again, vile geo-blocking thing.

YouTube scene. Two minutes. Is that right?

This could only be better if James Franko was on blanket at an "outdoors" picnic and eating Chex Mix. Which he kept mentioning by name.

Another big change in soap-opera land: Jeanne Cooper passed away today. She played the same character for 40 years.

Wow. That list of the longest serving soap actors is amazing. Imagine playing the same character for 60 years. I've never seen The Archers, but... wow.

I'm in shock Ken Barlow in still in Corrie.

And her (Cooper's) character's bio says a lot about soaps:
Katherine Chancellor Murphy (née Shepherd; formerly Reynolds, Thurston and Sterling)

I just finished catching up with Warehouse 13, and I think you mean you need your regionally appropriate leafy greens.
