The Dungeons are rather interesting, yet fun in that morbid kind of way. I have been the the London Dungeon, and it had scenes of wax figures depicting various tortures and cruelities based on historic events. I wonder what this exhibit would be like at the Edinburgh Dungeon, sounds like an adult version of Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas.

This is just wrong on an infinite number of levels...and it's violently pinging that 'crane-your-neck-to-gawk-at-the-auto-accident' gene for me. Any cheap flights to Scotland?

This reminds me of a halloween 'Hell House' display a local church did a few years ago. They tried to show the terror and evil of sinning, and only managed to entertain a hundred or so drunk people. The scenes included a car accident (Which was great. It looked real.), a girl shooting up, while listening to Nine Inch Nails (this church thought they were worse than Marilyn Manson), a boy shooting himself (I believe they used firecrackers for the gunshot), and last, but not least, a real person strapped up on a cross, covered in blood. At the end, they'd ask you what church you went to and try to get you to come to theirs. All in all, that last part was the scariest.

A leading psychologist also said "there are dangers" in allowing children as young as eight to see the display. Well, duh.

Lets see, terrifying small children with satan and fire and brimstone.... ....sounds like a pretty normal Christmas to me, and I bet it does to anyone else lucky enough to have Scottish grandparents.

Looks like the Edinburgh Dungeon's purpose is to "depict darkest chapters of Scottish history." Looks like a year round haunted house, intended not to encourage bad stuff, but offer bad stuff merely for entertainment value. The people complaining about this thing obviously have no concept of good, clean, old-fashioned, morbid fun. =)
