"We Make Propaganda"

Wikileaks responds with line by line refutation of the new documentary We Steal Secrets. From the title until the the very end, Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney draws reproach from the staff of Wikileaks, none of whom he interviewed for his "insider accounts" of the organization. Major objections include his ignoring Manning's stated idealistic motives and embracing of the official view of Assange as a scheming hypocrite who actively "stole" "dangerous" documents, all while downplaying the significance of the information Wikileaks actually brought to light.

Rather proves the point that Wikileaks is just about Wikileaks now, doesn't it?

The willingness with which people are willing to swallow talking points is only overshadowed by their rush to regurgitate them.

I heard Gibney interviewed on the radio about WikiLeaks on NPR. He was awfully negative, specifically about Assange. It made me wonder whether he went into the documentary with a preconception about what WikiLeaks was or whether he came to his opinions while researching his film. Either way he wasn't pretending to be an unbiased documentarian. Which could make for a better documentary film, but it's no wonder WikiLeaks hates it.

Are you suggesting WikiLeaks not refute the film's pov, statements, and conclusions?
