Absolute and definitive proof that no pastiche of Werner Herzog VO is anywhere near as funny as actual Werner Herzog VO. Bravo. Seriously, Bravo. "It is not that I hate it, it is that I love it. I love it very much. But I love it against my better judgment."

Love this entire oeuvre. I anxiously await the homage to F.W. Murnau, Post-it-Notes-feratu.

For a moment-- just a moment, mind you-- I was going to ask why anyone would go to all the trouble to do this.

Yes. Because the only thing that can make classic Herzog/Kinski any weirder is the Jan Švankmajer treatment.

Also: Wood-chip.

Pulp Fiction.

Is this thing on?

I hope somebody does show it to Werner Herzog. For anybody who has not seen the original: you just saved yourself 2 hours 35 minutes, some more arias and plenty of mud.

I'm sending it to my friend, who went through Herzog's outlaw film school, so it'll probably make its way to him.

Fitzcarraldo is one of my favorite films, and Herzog a hero of mine.

The effort here is particularly pleasing because it's such a futile endeavor. The point is the making of it, the awareness of how useless it is.

PS - Thank you, neroli, for the best use yet of "does what it says on the box."

The Corrugation of Dreams is brilliant despite the absence of a ranting cardboard Klaus Kinski.

For those who are on the fence about watching Fitzcarraldo, just watch My Best Fiend first - the back story you get about what's going on during the filming will make it at least 10 times more enjoyable.

Corrugation of Dreams.

You can't beat that with a stick.
Or an old paper-towel tube.

This cardboard, I'm sorry to say, is all wet. The story does not end at the top of the mountain and this is, in many ways, the most important thing about the film.
Not kidding. But I did love this.
