Run Juice Run!!!O.J. Simpson's house raided by the FBI and DEA! Yeah, I know, a news story, but its O.J.! O.J. suspected in Ecstasy Drug Ring. Along with a few other illegal activities. Is this his third strike???

Haha, I know a guy who used to do that (still has his card), actually you don't need to steal equipment. He would buy DSS dishes and then return them sans-card, he once stole a DSS card right out of display model at radio shack though. The TV went blue and everything and he just walked out, it was crazy :P

It's more then free TV though, I mean you can get things that you simply can't pay for due to political reasons, like local TV from all over the nation.

I'll have to pass this on to my friend, I'm sure he'll get a kick out of the fact that OJ got caught with test cards :P

anathema: the point was that there are stations you can't get even if you offer to pay for them, like Chicago local affiliates when you live in New York.

There is no technical reason for those stations to not be available. The desicion was made by corporations and backed by legislation.

Oh come on, let's hijack it! I'm curious what you think is 'weak logic'--that stealing is justified by the fact that local channels are unavailable normally? Or that local channels are unavailable for political reasons? One is a moral question and one is a fact. I'm not sure where logic comes into it.

My gut reaction to this, based on nothing but my intestinal juice, is that OJ, deep down somewhere, wants to get caught. Outwardly, he's the guy that got away with murder, but inside he longs for punishment, perhaps even death.

Heh - OJ should consider a career as a hit man. I mean, it's not as if he would ever be convicted, so the primary drawback of the job is gone!

By the way, you don't really need to steal any hardware besides the little card for satellite TV. The card is a smart card, and the decryption algorithm for the video signal is actually run on the card itself. The article made it sound like he had machines used to actually create new cards, and that those are what was stolen. I guess if I had all these free cards lying around, I would probably use it to watch TV, but that isn't what this is about. Manufacturing and istribution of these cars acould be a serious source of income for someone with a huge settlement to pay.

Will someone please just give O.J. his own TV sitcom? This way he'll get a lot of attention for a couple months, and then blissfully disappear from the world spotlight forever, with only the occasional "Whatever happened to" biography on a syndicated show which'll be easily ignored.

Come to think of it, I'd like a TV sitcom.

i dont consider it theft if it's something that you'd pay for, but they wont sell it to you, and all you're doing is unscrambling it.

Personally I would definately pay for local channels nationwide. Who wouldn't want to see Letterman at 8 or 9pm? Who wouldn't want to switch over to a local newscast of breaking news in the city that it's originating?

And as someone who buys the baseball, football and basketball package, why shouldnt I be allowed to see more than one baseball game on a Saturday morning other than the one that FOX wants to throw at me? Even our President knows that this is the information age.

When I was a kid all TV was free, cable came and we paid for the cable and we still had commercials. Now DSS is here and we pay for the dish, the service, the extra service and there's more commercials.

I'm not complaining, indeed, I say Viva Capitalism, Viva Directv smart cards, and thank you OJ, for giving back to your community.
