"Pierre Boulez was sleeping in his five star Swiss hotel when police dragged him from bed and informed him he was on their national list of terrorist suspects." Inflicting audible harm on people, perhaps? Sheesh, what next?

Article on Boulez's slide from "young terrorist of the fifties" to today.

Now, art from violence is often beautiful and usually fascinating. Violence from art seems like an inversion of priorities and, far too often, just a ploy for attention. Is blowing things up to liberate notes from oppressive tonalism really necessary? To paraphrase, why cause mayhem for serialism when they are so many other, better motivations for mayhem?

I thought we weren't linking to The Onion any more.

But seriously, folks, this is completely off the deep end. Taken into custody because of remarks he made about opera houses in the 1960's? Live in fear, those of you who ever said, "Let's blow this pop stand."
