I love how cheerily this guy explains heating things up to 300ÂșC and causing them to explode.

The scariest thing about the Scariac is that it's electrolyzing hydrogen and oxygen into the electrolyte container. Some venting might have been more in order than the cute handle.

On the one hand, this guy often comes up with interesting physics hacks, and this is the third time in memory that he's been on Metafilter's front page. On the other hand, his editing, obnoxious little CGI intro, and constant grating patter make it difficult to like him.

Last-second edit:
But huh, starting into the Sparklers one, he doesn't seem very annoying in it at all. Maybe I am wrong about His Royal Uncertainty.

Didn't he shake cream into butter in the first grade like the rest of us?

Looking through his YouTube list reveals instructions for making a device that turns water into an extremely volatile mixture of hydrogen and oxygen. It's long and kind of dry, but somehow inspiring. I can imagine a high school chemistry class having a lot of fun with this series.

I didn't make butter, I made ice cream.
