If this happened in the US, then the owners of the circus would be guilty of Manslaughter, at the very least, due to their negligence in not feeding the lions.

Of COURSE a starving lion is going to grab a kid; to a lion a human looks like lunch.

Is this the right link? I got "Orthodox monopoly on Jewish practice must be upheld, Israeli court told"...

You have to scroll all the way down to find where the orthodox rabbi eats the little ethiopian boy.

Careful, you'll get Jorn posting about Shahak again.

Steven, do you really think this can't happen in the US?

Sorry about the wrong link. (Nando's JScript is strange, and I forgot about that.)

And I didn't say it couldn't happen here; what I said is that the owners of the lions would have been charged with the death of the child here.

You see, you shouldn't think of it as manslaughter, you should think of it as Man's Laughter.

Steven, according to the news tonight, the animal keeper probably will be charged with the Brazilian equivalent of manslaughter.

You're being needlessly provincial.

Those Burzilians... fuckin barbarians, I tell ya.

Ah. Indeed, the BBC reports that the lion tamer has been charged with manslaughter, and the zoo management may face safety charges for allowing people so close to the cages.

Whether in America or, well, the Americas, travelling circuses enjoy lax oversight.

Mea culpa.

I confess to provincialism.
