We Do Phoshop (포샵해드립니다)

Korean Photoshoppers Make the Internet a Better Place (Kotaku) On June 26, a Korean language Facebook page called "We Do Phoshop" appeared online. The site solicited Photoshop requests, and the ensuing 'shops weren't exactly what askers had in mind. Or what anyone had in mind, for that matter.

Hee. That's just what I needed this morning.

Request: "This is a travel pic. I want you to erase the woman on the right side."

I expected them to erase the right side of the woman.

Thanks Korea!

I love all the weaponized kitties.

I can see that half the fun is carefully wording your request so they can not mess it up.

The other half is failing at this effort.

These are basically what I'd love to give every client request back when I did graphic design for a living.

Oh the soju one just slayed me. It's pre-dawn here and I tell ya, it's hard to snicker quietly at that one. Thanks for this.

This one is seriously genius on so many levels:

Request: "I want you to make it like I'm eating something nobody in the world has ever eaten."

the funniest part is that the first comment on kotaku is a super-huffy THIS IS TECHNICALLY NOT TROLLING screedlet

Photoshop trolls are jerks like lamp genies. Don't fucking trust them unless you have an air-tight contract.

I realize this is a Korean site and pho isn't Korean but did anyone else look at this expecting lovely bowls of steaming hot soup placed in inappropriate settings?

That's a winner.

That guy is surprisingly (disturbingly?) dedicated to his craft.

Yeah, 'cause the American photoshop trolls I see have hamburgers everwhere. The Canadians? Poutine, as far as the eye can see.

If we named our sites "we do burgershop" or "we do poutineshop" then your comment would make more sense.

Okay, the "Peppermint Candy starring Thomas the Train!" reference is making me cackle with delight. That's just wonderful. Now I can probably never watch that movie again without stifling an awkward giggle at the beginning.

They're different phonemes and it's irrelevant that they're spelled the same in English. =\ If your interpretation of grimace's comment is right, then basically everyone that speaks English and uses photoshop should be making that particular pun.

Well, True American Dog does have an awful lot of pizza. Probably some hamburgers too. I realise it doesn't quite meet the "photoshop troll" definition.

I was with the hamburgers-and-poutine comment until I realized it was "We Do Phoshop." hee!

I'm glad a few people actually looked at the title of the post to catch my pho reference. The rest of you, Nelson laugh.

I did thoughtfully remove "troll" from the title, just in case.

It's amusing to consider how, in the absence of an /f/ fricative, Koreans might pronounce "Phoshop". "Po'shop", perhaps?
posted by KokuRyu at 2:38 PM on July 11, 2013 [1 favorite]

Just chatted with my closest Korean and she agrees with you on the "Po'shop", KokuRyo.

Yes! I wanted it to be like the Korean Vietnamese version of Scanwiches (which seems to be defunct), but with soup 'shopped instead of sandwiches scanned. In either case, food technologized.

I love all the weaponized kitties.

A friend of mine had a very relaxed and tolerant cat who liked to lie on the windowsill when the window was open. One of his favorite things was to grab it by the hind legs and play machine gunner out the window. The cat was fine with it.

It's a bit more... well... trollish, but the Photoshop Troll can be quite funny at times, especially his customers' exasperated responses. The entry that's on the front page right now is hilarious, but I shouldn't say anything more.
