Well this should be interesting.

The prosecution failed. Same as with OJ.

This was as slam dunk manslaughter case and they mismanaged the hell out of a second degree murder charge.

Still, a travesty. The civil case should be interesting.

Today I learned: every time we hold our tongues when a relative or co-worker is saying something racist, bigoted, etc. in the name of "being polite", we're strengthening the culture that lets George Zimmerman get away with murdering an innocent child. I'm fucking done holding my tongue.

I wish this were a better post, but okay, I'm in. This is a really sad verdict that ignored the nuances of race, class and privilege in this country. Reasonable doubt is not good enough. Pay attention to the details.

The prosecution failed. Same as with OJ.

Prosecution didn't have a case. Same as Duke.

(Actually I have no idea what the reality is, but I figure as long as we're pretending we know the facts of the case better than the jury I should get in early).

That was a relatively fast verdict, wasn't it? Not even manslaughter.

The civil case should be interesting.

Defense attorney O'Mara:
We will seek and we will get immunity in any future civil proceeding.

To paraphrase someone on Twitter, "America: where we put a dead black kid on trial for his own murder."

I thought my country was better than this. I was wrong.

Yup, jury of his peers. His racist, loathsome peers.
