Huh, I wouldn't have guessed "pole dancing".

One imagines a bear day-spa in the mold of Bubbles' Kitty Land Love Center. I mean, they're both in Canada. It's not far-fetched.

Wow, what a popular tree!
Great to see a happy and healthy family of grizzlies too.

Note: all Canadians do this instinctively, regardless of species.

Been chuckling over existential crisis bear all day. Now I think he is just sad he wasn't invited to the bear party.

For the first 30 seconds I was like, "Hmm, an Alberta Parks wildlife cam, well, cute enough deer, cute bear, I guess..." And then after that I was laughing so hard I could hardly catch my breath. The soundtrack is just so perky and perfect.

I love how the other animals come through, take a sniff, think "Yep, that's bear" and wander away. In the forest, trees are the nodes of a scent-based Internet.

Yeah, make all the jokes you want, but clearly that's the best fucking scratching tree in the forrest. Hell, now I want to use it.

Canadian bears? Probably kick back at the cottage with a bottle of Labatt Blue and/or Molson Canadian depending on the province.
posted by asnider at 9:21 PM on July 27, 2013

Oh, it's Alberta? They're probably drinking Kokanee or Big Rock, then.

What Canadian bears do when no one is looking

So, that's what happens in the dark room at the Eagle.

Yeah converge, I came here to say that if I wanted to see bears pole dancing, I could just go to the Eagle, but you beat me to the joke.

That video is so ripe for a bear dance vid with various ]tracks. I could just imagine that vid with any michael jackson song.

Cant stop watching this. That tree is so perfectly placed for the camera .. :) I have half a suspicion that those bears were auditioning for a "bear's got talent" show.

Can someone create a gif with that bear doing the pole dancing all by him/herself? its awesome!!!

I think this bears up under repeat viewing. I didn't get a lot of the in-jokes the first time. Like how the bear at 0:30 goes to town on that tree, when he's actually in the woods.

Alberta's hottest club is...Kananaskis Country! Located by a tree in the middle of nowhere, this place has everything. Bears, cougars, those things that look like deer but can maul you to death without any effort...

There's a black bear who occasionally visits our back yard who is perfectly happy to do this sort of thing when we are looking (from a safe distance, on a second floor balcony, with the dogs locked indoors). He is also fond of grabbing hold of a bush and basically somersaulting forwards until the high branches are in reach and then sort of lolling around on his back plucking berries while hanging on with one (enormous, terrifying) claw until he's done at which point he lets it go SPROING like he's gonna catapult a squirrel into the next county.

Bears would be the doofiest goofiest pets ever, if not for the whole rip-your-face-off-with-one-lazy-swipe thing.

Was anyone else thrown off by the scale of this? I was chuckling along like everyone else, and then suddenly I was like, "Whoa, what's with the giant deer?!" at the end. Just me?
