Crystal Castles' "Untrust Us"... masterfully covered by the Capital Children's Choir. (original, for reference) (the oeuvre Capital Children's Choir has been referenced previously, but their Crystal Castles cover is new and it's awesome.)

Saw this making the rounds on FB - it's really amazing. Don't let the first 20 seconds or so fool you.

I guess this is better than anything on that new Kidz Bop album.

The lyrics are nice and wholesome for the kids, by the way:

La cocaina
No es buena
Para su salud
La cocaina
Is not good for you

(Cocaine is not good for your health / Cocaine is not good for you)

I saw that first link, and all I could think of was avoiding bees while I got all the gems...and then...sigh. No Bentley Bear.

It is, but the Kidz Bop version of Harlem Shake is fascinating in a strange way, like watching a catastrophic event in real time.

Please make sure you listen to the Crystal Castles cover both before and after this^: the first time, because its awesome, the second time as a chaser of sorts.

that original gives creepies, but that cover gives smilies.

and not a simple song to learn. Well done younglings.

Nicely done... a vast improvement over the original, IMHO.

This is really, really cool. I bet this choir is a fantastic experience for the kids involved.

Are they just sort of making sounds in this one or are these words too? I'm not getting anything here, but I'm a noob at languages, so.

Also I sort of did the concerned eyebrow raise thing when i saw Untrust Us and "children's choir" together in the title, but then listening to the song I found myself a little disappointed they didn't just have them sing about cocaine. I don't really know why, I just would have liked it. But I mean, it's a choir, obviously, so I don't know what I expected. Although, at least it would be about how coke is bad...?

I think it's the "shh" sound in the choir version that's throwing me off.

Though I have heard some crystal castles previously I hadn't recognized this song except for one part... which I just learned was resampled in the intro to a Death From Above song...The more you know *starwipe*

Isn't Crystal Castles the band that ripped off chiptunes artists?

No, they're that band who ripped off Pet Shop Boys doing a Frankie cover of a Bruce Springsteen song.

My young nieces and nephews love Chrystal Castles so I bet a lot of the kids in this choir had a blast making this cover ...at least that blonde boy was thumping his chest with some serious intent.

a birds: yes, they're singing the lyrics given above. It's hard to hear, though. Listen to the original first, following along with the lines as quoted by naju above. They sing it in a distorted way, but it's quite recognizable.

Then try the children's choir again. It sounds even more distorted-- it almost sounds like they leave out the consonants (or maybe replace some with sh) and sing only the vowels. But it's there.

They used samples from Lo-Bat and Covox without attribution. 8bc's wiki has a few more links.

No Bentley Bear

here you go, Chuffy.

I really like children's choir covers, but this one fell flat for me. The start is cool, but I much prefer the original.

I really like the Anti-Flag cover, though.

then listening to the song I found myself a little disappointed they didn't just have them sing about cocaine. I don't really know why, I just would have liked it. But I mean, it's a choir, obviously, so I don't know what I expected.

They are singing the lyrics on Untrust Us. That Anti-Flag cover has some strong language. Apparently they are allowed to say "hell" but not "shit" or "motherfucker."

For children's choirs, NOBODY beats PS22.

Why is the choir almost all girls? Do they sound better, or is it just easier to get girls to come to practice? In some of the videos I recognise faces that go back years, so it's obviously a big commitment.
