CBS Plans Military Reality Show Feel the need for speed? Can you be a wingman? Is this what Karl Rove was talking about?

I'd watch women in uniform: e.g. Lt. Col. Martha McSally, the Air Force's highest-ranking female fighter pilot. But not if she's forced to wear an abaya!

It's been done, and by the army, no less. They did it online with a slick looking site; good looking photography, blogs, video... impressive.

Looks like they're repurposing a documentary that failed to sell last year.

An awful lot of people have pretty interesting jobs that never get any air time. The Discovery Channel and the History Channel seem to do this kind of thing to death already, but it sticks overwhelmingly to "glamorous" military specialities, like the SEALs, Rangers, naval aviators, submariners, etc. I'd like to see more balance: How about an artilliery or engineer outfit? Or life aboard one of the 'phibs? Or what it's like maintaining airframes, avionics and engines? Or how air-intercept directors practice their work? I'd like to see a documentary on how ROTC and OCS programs work. And I bet your average American who doesn't have family in the military has no idea what life ls like for military families -- that's fodder for at least an hour piece right there.
