The Beclogged Budgie
August 7, 2013 9:09 PM   Subscribe

Budgie - starring Adam Faith. The complete series one and two is available on YouTube [you may well need your cockney rhyming slang dictionary].

Get it while it's still available or better still, buy it from Network as Grangousier advised in the now brokenlinked Gurney Slade post.
Bonus: Coming in at a scant 1:38, Faith's first big hit What do you want?

This sounds painfully hilarious. From the Wikipedia link in the post: ...Arranging a pornographic film show in a hotel and having assured the "punters" that the film was "the real Laurel and Hardy, if you know what I mean", making his escape before they find out the film really is a Laurel and Hardy movie.

Remember it being rerun here in the early 90s IIRC

Actually, it was repeated just the once, on channel 4 in 1985.

We all are I'm afraid. Not Adam though, 10 years dead this year. I'm old enough to have seen this on its first run. It was hugely popular in my mid-teenage bracket.

I only hope that my final words will be as memorable as Adam Faith's: "Channel 5 is all shit, isn't it? Christ, the crap they put on there. It's a waste of space" .

Ha! I went to Broadstairs College back in 1972. It was a mixed trades college - catering, hairdressing, engineering, etc. Sandy was head of the Christmas committee and a bit of a rocker. Most of the budget was spent on getting Budgie, with a small leftover amount on a DJ afterwards. The engineering guys loved it. The hairdressers hated it, "You can't dance to this shit".
