Outrage fatigue?

It's August now, four months since George Zimmerman was acquitted in April, and hardly anything is on fire. A thoughtful post about the muted response to the Zimmerman case, from the Modern Mythology blog. The post author, "Ovid" is better known on MeFi as that funny dude YELLING MYTHS AT THE INTERNET on Myths Retold (previously), (previously), (also previously).
This post was deleted for the following reason: the judicial decision is actually only a month old and is a super hot button topic here so a SLBOA (single link blog op ed) might not be the best way to start a thread that may be doomed to become "people talking about the Trayvon Martin case again" -- jessamyn
Yeah, it's only been a month, not four months. Is Ovid a jetlagged time-traveller?
