I love these guys ! So insightful ! =)

Ryder must have looked in her closet and realized she didn't have a thing to wear. Then she looked at her pocketbook and realized the most recent thing she's done was Zoolander, where she played herself. She hasn't been very lucrative in two years.

In a world where women like Cameron Diaz and Julia Roberts can get $20 million a film, Ryder may believe the world owes her something.

That's pretty presumptuous. Are you and she very close?

That's rather presumptuous of you that I'm being presumptuous. I predicated my statement with "may" which would be defined as "a possibility." I didn't state it as a fact.

May. It's a word. You might look into it.

Well, she had to do SOMETHING to get back in the news!

I think that what jpoulos meant (sorry if I'm presuming jpoulos) is that you should have some logical basis for making inferences. To get to where you got, you did, indeed, have to presume much, which, by definition, made you presumptuous.

If we use your standard that "may" allows you to aver anything that is possible given the data you have (which is very limited in this case), we could say almost anything about almost anyone because, after all, it's possible.

Common sense. It's a good idea. You might look into it.

Which type of shoplifter is Winona Ryder? I put my money on kleptomaniac.

Is this thread about Winona Ryder being a spoiled bitch or is it about dissecting every word I say attempting to find a way to misinterpret it?

I don't recall any mention of me in dgeiser13's original post, so quit turning every thread I participate in into an attack Zach thread.

Based on what was in her possession, I think she's "may" be this type:
DRUG ADDICTS, THOSE WHO STEAL TO PAY FOR A DRUG HABIT: 10%
Like Professionals, they prefer stealing expensive, high end items, usually multiple items at a time. Their appearance often shows signs of substance abuse. They often carry drugs or drug paraphernalia on themselves. They are usually less careful than the Professional, but will likely arrest and flee the store if confronted.

Well, she and I are bestest friends, and this is all one big misunderstanding. She thought they were loaner clothes for her next big Oscar appearance, and the drugs, well, someone must have planted those. I know because we're justthisclose and have been for years and years! No ifs, ands, buts, or mays about it! However, I may be lying.

Okay, in all seriousness, it's kind of sad she's spiraled down to this type of behaviour. I never thought she was much of an actress in her adult career. Autumn In New York? Ugh. Girl, Interrupted? Annoying. If you ask me (and noone really did) her best work was in Heathers, Mermaids, and Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael... with Lucas as an honorable mention. She just seems so gapped to me lately, like space-cadet city. Anyway, talk about a bad way to get back in the gossip rags.

She probably feels like screwing the world since Angelina Jolie stole her thunder in Girl, Interrupted.

(ZachsMind: next time, please post the link to the Attack Zach thread so we can all participate).

I bet she was doing it for the thrill.

marijuana is a perscription drug in CA, so maybe the whole "possession of prescription drugs without a prescription" thing isn't such a big deal? Depending on your view of weed.

as stated in the msn article "the elfin starlet has been better known for her rotating list of rock star boyfriends than recent film roles." i'm telling you, she was so nice and a good girl until she started dating those rock stars. they're the ones that got her hooked up on drugs and a naughty lifestyle.

it could also be that she got so rich and famous so early that her life is completely dull now and she's striking out just to get a little attention.

either way, i've lost respect for her. she's shallow and needy.
what a waste :(

Those celebrities with all their problems. Well I never!

You know there's a spin that no one has put on it yet...

I think it's a publicity stunt. It's all the rage in LA now. We no longer have rock stars or movie stars - we have troubled teens, drug addicts and car chases.

At least one a day.

Criminals are the New Celebrity. Ask Robert Downey Jr. or Kelsey Grammer or Tim Allen or Hugh Grant or....

Anyway, my money is on her agent/publicist encouraging her to do something to generate notice.

Just a thought. :)

sadie01221975 - You lost respect for her while I never had any to begin with.

Her sole talent seemed to have been the "deer in the headlights while trembling" look. Never did it for me. Never will, either.

I just wish her sentence would be never to be mentioned by the press again.

dgallo,

That's got to be the most cynical thing I've ever read! However, it's a tribute of sorts to the entertainment-world Zeitgeist that I found it so credible.

i thought she was great as an android in Alien: Resurrection. a natural role for her.

whatever happened to Ally Sheedy?

you mean other than her role as a ticket agent in Home Alone 2? actually, she's done quite a bit in the last decade. too bad i've never heard of any of it.

Oh, Gerald. What ever happened to that kid? Got his braces and then... nothing.

The latest is that she walked out with $5k worth of stuff as well as some prescription meds in her possession... sans prescription. For those of you keeping score. Some of the gossipy folks were musing upon celebs who make a practice of strolling out of high-class stores with one or two items lifted and not paid for, and that they possibly just overlooked similar behaviour from Ms. Ryder in the past. Of course, they all blame Gwyneth Paltrow for her rapid decline, so who knows what to believe?

Hooray! dgallo wins the pool. According to this article, Wynona is most likely not guilty of any charges and this was, in fact, probably a publicity stunt. I assume this because of her lawyer's comment:

"Contrary to the public perception, this tape exonerates her," said Ryder's lawyer, Mark Geragos. "I'd say this is a prosecution, interrupted."

How lame.
