I left Medical School to be a Medical Engineer.

I studied medicine for 3 years, which is a BS degree (to be a doctor, in my country, you need 6 years of study which is a Masters degree. I may add that I had an above average GPA in Medical School) and them left to study Medical Engineering. I prefer it because it is intellectually more challenging and is a field with a promising future. However, with this decision, I think I may have lost a very good opportunity to have a large salary...

It is revolting to know that I will be paid less for making a decision that I believe was right for me and doubt that I will ever regret it. If I am sure I will play a better role in society by being a Medical researcher, for instante, than by being a surgeon/physician why should I be financially punished for that?

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, I don't know if you meant for this to be on Ask Metafilter (if so, maybe reach us at the contact form to discuss it because this isn't really as stated a great question for over there) but this certainly isn't front page post material. -- cortex
