Kitties think primarily of murder. Sometimes it is justified.

Lavina appears to actually be named honey, and is apparently thinking about which hitchcock movie to recreate on her owner.

I am simultaneously glad and disappointed this isn't about the knitting of pets rather than knitting for pets.

Don't knitters have to swear an oath not to use their powers for evil or something?

I already hated people enough.

bearwife, this is very fun and I am so glad you linked to orange swan's entertaining blog. I am not a knitter myself but I find much amusement at the blog - here are a sampling of other posts I've enjoyed:

Knitting tattoos
Knitted Wonderlands
Runway knitwear

Here's to the old-school genre of lovingly maintained topical blogs and the creative people who take the time to write them - fie on you facebook and pinterest!

Thank you, bearwife, for considering my post FPP-worthy.

I have often wondered how it would feel to be called MeFi's Own. Now that I have been, I find I'm partly thrilled by it and partly....

Don't knitters have to swear an oath not to use their powers for evil or something?

No, we don't. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

And after over nine months of writing this blog, I can only say that I'll start feeling like I've seen it all, that I've plumbed the depths of the best and worst that can be done with yarn and needles, and then I come across something that makes me realize that no, I really haven't seen it all.

My favorite is the male box turtle -- but come to think of it they look annoyed even without a silly cap.

Very nice. I'm can see being mad enough at my cat to do something like this, but can't ever see being that good a knitter.

orange swan - I love your blog, and I don't even know how to knit! I really love that background image of the costumed ladies knitting - do you have any details about it? like where/when/who it is?

That image is a Life photo of showgirls knitting for soldiers during the early days of WWII. It was taken in the UK in 1939.

I've also been reading Orange Swan's blog for a while, and particularly like the historical posts - Twentieth Century Series.

Also, here is an injured kitten in a mushroom costume.

I'm actually anti-knitting for pets in most cases (there are cases where there's an actual practical reason to do it), because it's such a stupid waste of time and the animal is probably only going to hate it anyway. But I do have a little black satin bow among my sewing notions and every time I see it I think about making a little black bow tie for my cat Trilby. It wouldn't take long at all and I bet I could take a hilarious picture of it. But I think to myself, "Slippery slope, Orangie. Slippery slope." So far Trilby is just living life unmolested in the plush white fur coat nature gave him.

I will admit I knitted a coat for my dog, partly to learn how to cable. He actually seems to love wearing it, though, so he wouldn't qualify for an OS captioned photo.

It is a slippery slope, though. I'm thinking about knitting him another this winter.

A cat called Trilby definitely needs a bow tie.

Also, bearwife, I read your comment as "partly to teach him how to cable. He actually seems to love doing it ... ".

Ow. Ow. My sides hurt now. I was holding it together until the photo of that poor, poor pug. *snerk*
