You're Lewes F.C., a small semi-professional football club playing in the Isthmian League in London, six levels below the English Premier League. You want to get punters to come to your games, but don't have the budget to put out radio or tv ads. What do you do? Create some really great match day posters, like this one mimicking a WWII Russian propaganda poster or this Clash poster.
Excellent posters! (Yes, the people posting in this thread are excellent too.)

The Animals one is my favorite - I love that they even have a little rook floating overhead.
All of these look like images that someone had a lot of fun working on.

Nice posters! (For the benefit of non-UK MeFites, Lewes is pronounced with two syllables; it sounds just like Lewis.)

A question for UK people/brits - are games at this level more social event than sporting event? Very curious because it somewhat seems it from some photos of the field they play on.

I like the Met Police one (Valentine special!), especially since I went on a Wikipedia jaunt through some of the more interesting non-League clubs a few weeks ago and was really amused to find that the police force had their own little team.

Yes. Just like minor league baseball games in the U.S. (or high school football, outside of Texas), there's a certain component of "Hey, let's go see some [sport]," but much of the draw is "You know, Henry's kid is playing tonight" or "Oh, look, free hot dogs and some random minor celebrity will be there signing autographs."

You know for all the talk about the cheapening of design by rolling tools out to the masses, stuff like this pretty much makes all the crap designs worth it. Labors of love for the win.

The Dayton (Ohio) Dragons have sold out every home game since they moved to Dayton and took up residency in the 8,000 seat Fifth Third Field in 2000.
That's 913 straight sold-out games -- the record for all professional sports in the US.
This despite the fact that the Dragons are a Class A minor league baseball team affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds, who play only fifty miles away.
I suppose it could be for the swag.
