Actor Steve Buscemi was once a firefighter and assisted the FDNY after the 9/11 disaster. Although better known as a character actor with distinctive eyes, Steve Buscemi was once a firefighter in the Little Italy district of Manhattan.
During the 9/11 disaster, Buscemi returned to his old workplace and helped with the rescue and clean up operation. He declined any publicity.
