yeah the "cats hate it" thing definitely ain't true. I de-stinkify the litterbox with a mix of vinegar, hot water, and baking soda, swish around then let it sit about 10 minutes, dump down drain (double duty drain cleanser!), don't even rinse. The furballs jump right in before I can manage to add new litter.

My favorite vinegar hack:
Equal parts Jack Daniels and vinegar, add some Tabasco sauce.
Won't be able to stop hacking.

Yeah, that is horrible cat advice because, to cats, vinegar smells similar to cat pee. Which I learned, doing a little research into why after I cleaned a carpet with vinegar, my cat was all, "I CLAIM THIS CARPET IN THE NAME OF URETHRA."

As someone from North Carolina, I'm pretty sure the only vinegar "hack" is "put on pork, eat."

(cat advice aside, though, I'm going to try that fruit fly idea tonight: we have a flock of them in our kitchen thanks to an old banana, and my poor venus flytrap and pitcher plant just aren't up the task.)
