these are the smart things written and acted by olders, but ride the tides above the youngers.

I don't get it, obviously I'm way too old, or alternatively, it really is crap.

I browsed some of his films, but I can't get past the Alvin & the Chipmunks voices.

I knew that was Aubrey Plaza! She was the best bit. I want to see her character just rant for hours.

This is really good. Will devour the rest soon. Then will devour myself.

On the one hand I'm glad that silly YouTube videos are now worthy enough to play in galleries and be considered high art. Bodes well for all those actual young YouTube artists who are tragically misunderstood.

On the other hand, what's with a male artist doing an hour long movie (plus many shorter movies) basically about how girl culture is, apparently, trivial and annoying? Can anyone provide some more context on this work?

I personally enjoyed watching this (thanks for posting!), but I'm disappointed by how hilariously difficult it is to find any good discussion of the video.

The only article I could find that wasn't some form of just "check out this weird short movie" is this, which provides a little bit of context but still feels kind of half-hearted.

Here's an interview with Trecartin during the production of the then untitled production.
