What really happened here?

Former Marine (and current restaurant server) Dayna Morales became "internet famous" several weeks ago when she posted a copy of a receipt she reportedly received from a customer, with a blank tip, that stated, “I’m sorry I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle and the way you live your life.” Since the story made news, others have donated $3000 to Ms. Morales, which she says she will donate to the Wounded Warriors project. Today, however, the customers in question have come forward claiming the entire thing was a hoax.
