Is Ryan Hemsworth related to Chris?

Has "freelease" entered the language?

Can you instagtram a selfie of that to my Tumblr via Twitter?

The "freemusic" tag is a thing, at least here on MetaFilter, if you're not so keen on "freelease."

Other annoyance: it's not even December yet! There are more than 30 days in which the possible "next best thing" could get dropped all of a sudden (like Gov't Plates, which I think was something of a surprise).

Then again, this thread will be open until almost the end of the year, so we can keep adding our favorite free releases here, for others to hear and enjoy.

Oh, the slew of "The top/best/worst __ of 2013" that awaits...
Had not heard Death Grips before, thanks for the introduction mannequito.

Wow, yeah, I saw this list and just assumed RTJ would be in it. I mean Killer Mike/El-p collaborating was so targeted at my specific rap nerd sensibilities that I preordered the deluxe vinyl package the moment it was available, so i'm biased in favor of it.

Have avoided Death Grips so far, so I think I might check them out today.

Bring it on, media! I lived through 2000's "Best of the Millennium List" crapfest, I can handle an inconsequential year like 2013.

people will be excited about RTJ and Death Grips (and you should be)

but let me kindly nudge you towards that Kelela record, too.

(and I went back and listened to 0181 earlier this week.. It borders on "infuriating" that these bits are some of Four Tet's earliest releases; they're just so good.)

You think this is alwrong?

Has "freelease" entered the language?

maybe, but it's annoying. Just call it what it is, please. A release, the free part being a given these days, whether the artist/label intends it or not, such is the nature of compressed audio files.

Added. Yeah half my interest in posting this was to see what people would throw in here with "How could they forget ______!!"

Down here we call it "frelease" pron. Fr-eh-lees.

It gets pronounced much faster that way

Dude, chillax

I guess I'm kind of an old fogey but I had no idea Four Tet was now putting out 'dance friendly' stuff; I still thrill, and chillax, to what I learn now is known as 'folktronica' : Rounds and Pause. So I'm looking forward to listening to this free release.
('free release' sounds kind of... naughty?)
